All hearing protectors sold in Europe that are designed to protect the wearer from harmful noise must be CE certified. This is usually done by testing the product against the relevant parts of the harmonized European standard series EN 352.

After regular revision, the revised EN 352 standards were published in 2020 and the changes will come into full effect in July 2024. This includes earplugs and earmuffs, including mountable or attachable earmuffs, which should be tested and approved with the selected wearer.
