New to the range: tesa® 4950 – Sustainable high-performance tape for LSE bonding

With tesa® 4950, tesa presents a high-performance, double-sided PET film adhesive tape that has been specially developed for bonding to substrates with low surface energy (LSE) such as PP, PE, and EPDM. The transparent 100 µm thick tape combines technical excellence with sustainable use of materials – ideal for industrial applications that combine maximum performance with environmental awareness.

Performance meets sustainability

The 12 µm thick PET backing of tesa® 4950 consists of 90% recycled material (PCR-PET) and is complemented by a certified paper liner. The tape thus offers a resource-saving solution without compromising on durability or processing quality.

The modified acrylate adhesive ensures strong initial adhesion, excellent shear strength, and permanent hold—even under demanding environmental conditions and with short-term exposure to heat up to 200 °C.

Product advantages at a glance

  • LSE-optimized adhesion: Primerless bonding on PP, PE, and EPDM
  • High shear strength: Reliable under stress and heat
  • Dimensionally stable & precise: PET backing enables clean die cutting and easy handling
  • Short-term temperature resistance up to 200 °C
  • Low VOC emissions: Tested according to VDA 278 for clean indoor air
  • Sustainable materials: 90% PCR-PET and certified paper liner

Typical applications

  • Permanent bonding on plastics, seals, and molded parts that are difficult to bond
  • Industrial assemblies with a focus on a precise, transparent, and clean appearance
  • Bonding to LSE materials without primer – ideal for design and functional components

Conclusion:

tesa® 4950 combines strong adhesion, dimensional stability, and sustainability in one tape. It is the ideal choice for demanding industrial bonding applications where reliability and environmental responsibility are equally important.
