Care, maintenance, and cleaning procedures for the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-300+ Powered Air-Purifying Respirator System

Regular and professional care, maintenance, and cleaning are crucial to ensuring the protective effect and service life of the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-300+ Powered Air Respiratory Protection System. The linked PDF provides a practical overview of the procedures recommended by 3M, including inspection intervals (before each use or monthly if used infrequently), suitable cleaning methods, and important information on safe handling, drying, and storage.

The document also contains technical bulletin information, lists of tested cleaning agents and disinfectants, and linked videos that clearly explain individual steps—e.g., cleaning and disinfecting the system, caring for the breathing tube, belt, or backplate—and provide further information.

Obligations & responsibilities:

The care, maintenance, and cleaning of PPE are the responsibility of the employer and must be carried out in accordance with local regulations and the respective instructions for use.

Inspection intervals:

3M recommends an inspection before each use; for infrequent use, a monthly check with maintenance as needed.

Suitable cleaning methods:

Depending on the level of contamination, either wipe down or use a decontamination shower – always adapted to the application and risk assessment.

Gentle cleaning:

Do not use organic solvents or abrasive cleaners. We recommend pH-neutral, fragrance-free, and dye-free cleaning agents.

Note the temperature:

When cleaning and drying, use a maximum temperature of 50°C to prevent damage to the material.

Protect critical areas:

Do not allow liquid to enter the air inlet or breathing tube connection; do not clean the motor/blower with compressed air or a vacuum cleaner.

Handle the battery correctly:

The battery can be wiped clean on the outside – do not clean the contact surfaces with a damp cloth and allow them to dry completely before reuse.

Filters & pre-filters:

Do not clean filter media (do not knock out or blow out). Check seals and housing before reuse, immediately replace damaged filters; always replace pre-filters.

Check breathing hose:

Check seals, test hose for flexibility, and dry completely inside before storage or use.

Storage & battery:

Store within the recommended temperature and humidity range; for longer periods of storage, store the battery separately and recharge it regularly.
