For professional polishing, we offer a comprehensive range of 3M polishing systems: polishing discs, sheets, pastes, and pads, as well as polishing compounds. The individual products in our polishing systems work together seamlessly, ensuring efficiency and process reliability. After sanding out paint inclusions, runs, scratches, or dust and dirt inclusions, the surface is polished to a high gloss. The perfect finish leaves the surface completely flat and gives it a deep shine. The subsequent high-gloss sealing helps provide long-term protection for the polished surface.
Tips for sanding:
- For best results: Hold the machine flat against the surface, applying only light pressure, and reduce the pressure again toward the end.
- Apply a small amount of 3M™ Perfect-it III Polishing Compound Plus (PN50417) to the corresponding color-coded green foam pad, place the pad on the sheet metal, and turn on the rotary polisher.
- For larger areas or higher temperatures, use 3M™ Perfect-it™ III Polishing Compound XL (PN51052), which has a longer working time.
- Ideal speed range: 800–1200 rpm – approx. 2 times 10 seconds, depending on the degree of curing/hardness of the clear coat layer
Helpful tip:
- Use the 3M Quick-Connect System for quick pad changes.
- Inspection step: Use 3M™ Finish Inspection Spray (PN55535) to remove all polishing compound residue and verify that the scratches have been adequately removed. If necessary, repeat the previous polishing step to ensure the scratches do not reappear later.
