3M™ High-Performance Sealing Tape 4412N, translucent, is a 2 mm thick, highly conformable, single-sided acrylic adhesive tape with a high-performance ionomer backing. Our tape has been specially designed to provide a professional seal over an existing joint, seam or penetration that is exposed to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures and moisture.

The 3M™ High-Performance Sealing Tape 4412N is the ideal solution for sealing roof racks and securing mechanical roof rack fittings on commercial vehicles. This allows for significant savings in liquid sealants. Our tape offers strong adhesion and meets the requirements of a wide range of challenging sealing applications. As a single-sided adhesive tape, sealing is generally achieved by ‘over-sealing’ an existing joint or penetration – as opposed to ‘between-surface sealing’ applications, which are typically carried out using double-sided adhesive tape, a gasket or a liquid sealant/adhesive. The acrylic adhesive used in this product is manufactured using the same technology as that of 3M™ VHB™ tapes. This pressure-sensitive tape offers exceptional performance for challenging sealing applications. The ionomer backing is very robust yet flexible and abrasion-resistant. It is conformable and provides an effective seal over contours, edges, rivets and screw heads. The thick acrylic adhesive is very soft and has excellent sealing properties whilst offering good outdoor durability. It is designed to adhere perfectly to the ionomer backing, allowing overlapping adhesive joints to be created whilst maintaining a strong, effective seal. This tape provides watertight seals and adheres on contact with a wide range of materials. It prevents drying, dripping, running or the need for cleaning. It conforms to contours, edges, rivets and screw heads. The 3M high-performance sealing tape can be painted to match the colour of the adjacent surfaces. It is resistant to sunlight, rain, snow and extreme temperatures. What are ionomers? Ionomers encompass any polymer materials consisting of thermoplastic resins stabilised by ionic cross-linking. Some commercial applications for ionomers include golf ball covers, semi-permeable membranes, sealing tapes and thermoplastic elastomers.
