3M Cold-Shrink Tubing

The 3M™ 8420 and 8430 Cold-Shrink Insulation Tubes provide fast, tool-free, and permanent insulation for electrical and non-electrical applications. They are specifically designed for the primary insulation of solid-insulated wires and cable splices up to 1,000 volts and are ideal for indoor and outdoor use.

The innovative 3M™ Cold Shrink System enables easy installation: The tubes are pre-stretched on a pull-out support spiral. After positioning, simply pull out the spiral—the tubing shrinks immediately to form a reliable, watertight seal. This active recovery ensures durable insulation and reliable protection against moisture, dust, and other environmental influences.

Made from high-quality EPDM rubber, which is chloride- and sulfur-free, the tubing offers high elasticity, weather and temperature resistance from -40 °C to +90 °C. They flexibly adapt to various cable cross-sections and ensure a consistently secure seal—even under mechanical stress.

In addition to electrical insulation, the cold-shrink tubing is ideal for sealing communication lines, cable jacket ends, conductor connections, and branch points. For applications with prolonged UV exposure, an additional wrap with Scotch® Super 33+™ Vinyl Insulation Tape or Scotch® Silicone Rubber Tape 70 is recommended.
