3M Cold-Shrink Tubing

The 3M™ 8420 and 8430 Cold-Shrink Insulation Tubes are the ideal solution for fast, tool-free, and reliable electrical insulation. They are specifically designed for the primary insulation of solid-insulated wires and cable splices up to 1,000 volts and provide a permanently flexible, watertight seal for a wide variety of cable applications.

The innovative cold-shrink system is based on a pre-stretched EPDM tube mounted on a removable support spiral. Once positioned, the support spiral is simply removed—the tube automatically contracts and snugly conforms to the cable. This creates a permanent, weather-resistant seal without the need for heat or special tools.

Made from high-quality EPDM rubber, which is chloride- and sulfur-free, the insulating tubes offer excellent temperature resistance from -40 °C to +90 °C and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. In addition to electrical insulation, they also provide mechanical protection and a reliable seal for communication and other non-electrical connections.

For long-term UV resistance, an additional wrap with Scotch® Super 33+™ vinyl insulating tape or Scotch® Silicone Rubber Tape 70 is recommended in strong sunlight.
