3M™ Structural Adhesive (IRSA) is specifically designed to meet OEM requirements with increased impact resistance. This two-component epoxy adhesive offers an extended open time—up to one hour—and can be cured more quickly with the application of heat. The adhesive changes color from silver to violet as it cures.

3M™ Structural Adhesive (IRSA) was developed to withstand higher loads than conventional adhesives and is ideal for OEM-specified structural applications in automotive manufacturing. It adheres to properly prepared steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber surfaces; this is of utmost importance as OEMs strive for high strength in increasingly lightweight structures. This two-component epoxy adhesive is recommended—when specified by an OEM—for all welded and riveted joints. It offers an extended open time—up to one hour—and cures rapidly under heat (30 minutes at 80 °C). When applied, this adhesive is silver in color; as curing begins, the color changes to violet, indicating the start of the curing process. 3M™ Structural Adhesive is designed to absorb collision energy and provides increased torsional stiffness for vehicle structures specified by OEMs. It allows for spot welding in the uncured state, typically up to three hours after application. Properly applied adhesive completely seals the joints and shows no loss of performance even at very high or very low temperatures. 3M™ Structural Adhesive is available in 200-ml cartridges.
