The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fan Disc 967A offers excellent removal rates in applications with low to medium contact pressure. Our discs are ideal for flat surfaces or outer edges, especially when surface quality and edge stability are critical.

Use the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fan Disc 967A for higher removal rates and a flexible fan design that allows for grinding and blending in a single step. Our flap discs contain 3M precision-shaped abrasive grains that enable exceptionally high removal rates with less contact pressure. These abrasive grains form triangular tips that cut through the metal rather than gouging or “plowing” through it like conventional abrasives. These tips break off and continuously self-sharpen, enabling extremely fast cutting. This allows the user to perform tasks such as grinding out weld seams and edges, removing rust, and blending and deburring with less effort. Thanks to the heat-activated abrasive aid integrated into the disc, the grinding disc is ideal for all types of metal. This aid ensures a cooler grind on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys or titanium, reduces discoloration and oxidation of the metal, and also minimizes the likelihood of heat-induced stress cracks. A uniquely designed heavy-duty viscose backing enables controlled, even wear without premature dulling or smoothing. This allows users to get more production out of a single disc. Fan discs are three-dimensional grinding discs consisting of overlapping, abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that fan out from a central hub. As the overlapping layers of lamellae wear down, lamellae with fresh abrasive mineral are continuously exposed. This enables fast and uniform grinding, and the padding of the lamellae produces a homogeneous surface finish. Under normal conditions, our fan discs produce a finish that is one grade finer than that of a fiber disc of the same quality. Their overlapping construction allows more abrasive material to be applied to the cutting surface, making them significantly superior to typical grinding discs. For this reason, our discs enable a significant increase in productivity during grinding operations. They perform two tasks in a single step—grinding and finishing—and can therefore replace bonded abrasive discs and fiber discs. They are a useful time- and cost-saving solution for a wide range of applications, especially where surface quality and cut resistance are critical. Our flap discs are designed for angle grinders.
