3M™ Dual Lock™ SJ3870 – Removable high-performance fastener with strong adhesive strength

The 3M™ Dual Lock™ SJ3870 is a black hook-and-loop tape made of polypropylene, featuring 40 mushroom-shaped fasteners per cm² and a high-performance, modified acrylic adhesive. It is ideal for both permanent and temporary fastenings—especially on difficult-to-bond substrates such as plastics with low or medium surface energy, as well as on powder-coated materials.

The connection is formed by pressing two fastener parts together, causing the mushroom heads to audibly click into place and create a reliable, durable bond. The tape can be combined with mating parts featuring 26, 40, or 62 heads/cm²—depending on the desired holding force.

Even after 1,000 opening and closing cycles, at least half of the original tensile strength is retained. The connection is as strong as screws or rivets, but can be released and repositioned at any time without tools—ideal for applications that need to be opened regularly.

With a thickness of 6.1 mm when closed and excellent resistance to weather, UV radiation, and chemicals, SJ3870 is equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
