Our 3M™ Smooth Transition Tape is a simple way to prevent rework caused by hard paint edges. It was specifically developed to achieve smoother transitions in finishes: The adhesive is located in a raised center ridge. The paint penetrates under the edges, allowing for virtually invisible paint edges.

Achieve flawless results when masking and painting with 3M™ Smooth Transition Tape, for example on door openings, side panels, and creases. Our tape is easy to apply and requires no additional effort during masking and preparation. Simply apply it in addition to your usual masking products used to protect the adjacent areas of the work area, and achieve a smooth paint edge. The 3M™ Smooth Transition Tape is 7 mm wide. Its raised ridge is the only part that is coated with adhesive and applied to the surface. The adhesive-free remainder of the tape allows the primer and paint to penetrate naturally during spraying. This creates a virtually invisible line between the existing and new paint layers without any extra effort for the painter. Compared to conventional methods using masking tape and paper or folded masking tape, significantly less rework is required. Our 3M™ Smooth Transition Tape is also ideal for stone-chip protective coatings.
