3M Adhesive Tape 853

The 3M™ Polyester Film Tape 853 is a transparent, high-strength polyester tape with a solvent-resistant acrylic adhesive, specifically designed for use in demanding industrial environments. It combines high tear strength, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance and provides reliable protection during high-temperature processes.

The thin, transparent polyester backing reliably protects surfaces from abrasion without obscuring underlying prints or labels—ideal when important information needs to remain visible. The tape is resistant to numerous solvents, including kerosene, hydraulic fluids, and lubricating oils, and remains dimensionally stable and highly adhesive even at temperatures up to 150 °C.

Thanks to its combination of durability and transparency, 3M™ Polyester Film Tape 853 is ideal as a splice tape (e.g., for photo, audio, and video tapes), laminate protection, or for applications requiring chemical resistance and abrasion protection. Thanks to its low water vapor permeability, the tape is also ideally suited for long-term use.
