3M™ Fabric Tape 3939 has the tensile strength and adhesion for splicing, masking, patching, hemming, hanging film, sealing PVC pipes, covering trip hazards, and a variety of other industrial applications.

3M™ 3939 Fabric Tape consists of a water-resistant polyethylene laminated to a fabric backing and coated with an aggressive natural rubber adhesive. The tape is highly tacky and conformable. Our tape tears easily and cleanly—horizontally or vertically—without fraying. Industrial applications include hanging polyethylene covers for containment activities, masking, and sandblasting overspray protection. It is also used in the convention industry for holding and hemming carpet padding, masking cords, and hanging display boards. 3M™ Heavy Duty Duct Tape 3939 can be used at temperatures up to 200°F according to UL 723, ASTM E-84, NFPA 255, and UBC 8-1. The results were a flame spread index of 0 and a smoke development index of 30. Duct tape (sometimes incorrectly referred to as “duck tape”) is a tool used in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The term “duct tape” originates from its original use in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, including duct sealing. Today, it is used wherever patching, bundling, reinforcing, taping, splicing insulation, sealing pipe and conduit ends, labeling, making temporary repairs, hanging polyethylene curtains, or protecting against light sandblasting overspray is required.
